Create an FTP account
  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Open FTP Accounts
  3. Enter a login name (e.g. developer)
  4. Select the domain and directory the user can access
  5. Set a strong password
  6. Click Create FTP Account
Connect with FileZilla or similar
  • Host: your domain name or server IP from welcome email
  • Username: full FTP username (e.g. developer@yourdomain.lk)
  • Password: the password you set
  • Port: 21 (FTP) or 22 (SFTP if available)
Best practices
  • Give each developer their own FTP account with limited directory access
  • Delete unused FTP accounts
  • Use SFTP when supported for encrypted transfers
  • Never share your main cPanel password for file uploads
